Description:         Firewall K-500 is an extremely effective flame retardant barrier fabric designed for building upholstered furniture to comply with British Standard 5852 and California Technical Bulletin 133. K-500 features a highly flame retardant acrylic intumescent coating designed to form a char barrier during ignition to insulate the polyurethane foam from the flame source. Phosphorous and Brominated flame retardants incorporated in the coating act to make K-500 an "active" barrier, often preventing propagation of the flame source on the surface of the outer upholstery fabric. K-500 does not contain any PBDEs.

Suggested Use:    K-500 can be used with virtually any weight or fiber type of upholstery fabric. K-500 can be double upholstered or laminated directly to the outer upholstery fabric. K-500 is also offered laminated to a variety of protective film and scrims for various applications. Testing of each composite is necessary to assure compliance.
